ASIC Connect – Searching history of extracts recently purchased

Customers who wish to search their history of extracts recently purchased should contact ASIC's Customer Contact Centre on 1300 300 630 within Australia or +61 3 5177 3988 if calling from overseas and one of our staff will be happy to assist you.

On 9 November 2017 ASIC disabled its online ASIC Connect 'search retrieval' service, after being alerted to a potential privacy issue with this service.

The issue is that a person, through using another person's email address, is able to view the history of the searches and extracts recently purchased by the other person.

ASIC is reviewing this incident to identify any affected persons.  To the extent ASIC is able to identify affected persons ASIC will contact those persons.  The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has been made aware of this issue.

Crucially, no-one's personal details could have been revealed, such as credit card information nor has there been a breach of ASIC's internal data.

ASIC's main search function for people looking up companies and other registers is unaffected.

To contact ASIC about this issue, please send an email to registrydata@asic.gov.au.
