Small business-search information and fees

ASIC provides some free information about companies, business names and people it registers and licenses. Free information can be obtained from the ASIC website www.asic.gov.au under the heading 'Search ASIC registers'.

However, ASIC is required by law to charge fees for some information. Information can be purchased from ASIC either:

  • online, or

  • by mail.

When purchasing information at a service counter at an ASIC office or by post, ASIC charges an additional $3 service fee.

Various information can be purchased about:

  • organisations

  • business names

  • people involved in companies

  • people involved in businesses

  • banned and disqualified people (such as directors and others)

  • professional registers.
