Christmas closedown

ASIC offices will be closed from Monday, 26 December 2016 to Monday, 2 January 2017 (inclusive), re-opening on Tuesday 3 January 2017. Here's how this may affect you:

Lodging documents

Companies

You can still lodge forms online and by mail throughout the closedown period. If you're lodging documents via EDGE your software provider may be able to provide assistance.

If your company registration queues for manual intervention you will receive a response after Tuesday 3 January 2017.

We will recognise the receipt of paper lodgments received during the closedown period. A late fee will apply if the document lodged was due before the closedown period.

Example 1

If a change is due by close of business 23 December 2016, and we don't receive it until 3 January 2017, a late fee will apply.

Example 2

If a change is due by close of business 30 December 2016, and we don't receive it until 3 January 2017, a late fee will not apply.

Business names

If you have an existing ABN, you can continue to apply to register a business name via ASIC Connect. ASIC telephone and web support will be unavailable during the closedown period.

If your business name queues for manual intervention you will receive a response after Tuesday 3 January 2017.

Professional registers

You can still lodge forms online and by mail throughout the closedown period.

We will recognize the receipt of paper lodgments received during the closedown period. A late fee will apply if the document lodged was due before the closedown period.

If a change is due by close of business 23 December 2016, and we don't receive it until 3 January 2017, a late fee will apply.

If a change is due by close of business 30 December 2016, and we don't receive it until 3 January 2017, a late fee will not apply.

Annual statements

Annual statements will continue to be sent out for companies and schemes with an annual review date during the closedown period.

Annual review fees can continue to be paid via BPAY or at Australia Post.

Searching

Our online searching services remain open throughout the closedown period.

If you wish to use an information broker you will need to check the availability of their services.

Enquiry services

Telephone and online enquiry services will be unavailable from 5:00pm on Friday, 23 December 2016, re-opening at 8:30am on Tuesday, 3 January 2017.

Our Service Centre kiosks will be closed.

Media enquiries

The ASIC Media Unit will be closed from Friday 23 December 2016 to Monday 2 January 2017 inclusive.

For urgent media enquiries, please email media.unit@asic.gov.au. A member of ASIC's Media Unit will respond as soon as possible.

Complaints about companies or individuals

If you have a complaint or concern about a company or an individual, you can lodge your complaint online.

Complaints about ASIC

If you have a complaint about us, you can submit your complaint online. If you submit a complaint during the close down period we will contact you after January 4. 

Gazette

ASIC Gazette

The last issue for 2016 will be published on Tuesday 20 December 2016.

The first issue of the ASIC Gazette for 2017 will be published on Tuesday 3 January.

Business Gazette

The last issue of the Business Gazette for 2016 will be published on Tuesday 20 December. Notices should be received by 10 am Friday 16 December 2016.

The first issue of the Business Gazette for 2017 will be published on Tuesday 3 January. Notices should be received by 10 am Thursday 22 December 2016.
